Who am I?

I was born in West London and grew up in the suburbs

I studied Philosophy at the University of Liverpool

Then I lived and taught English in Naples, Italy

I used to work as a civil servant for the British Home Office

... and then at Cambridge University

Most of the time, I live out of my backpack

I now do all my work online and I spend most of my time travelling

I can speak Italian... and Scouse...

... but not Neapolitan!

I use it for my teaching because my first name, Tom, is SO common among English men of my age! There are lots of Toms teaching English online!

For example, the creator of the Thinking In English podcast is also called Tom!
